I’ve come to love waking up when it’s still dark

I’ve come to love waking up when it’s still dark. Drink coffee on the veranda and, wearing a fleece hoodie, go out on the road, meeting the answering light of a flashlight there. Go to the ocean, watching the darkness of the night dispel the predawn twilight, listening to how our voices are the only sound in the world around us. How the hum of the waves gradually joins them. Discuss what’s delicious for breakfast. Feel the cold of the sand and the warmth of the sea water. Understand how early waves are different. Not to see the horizon and watch as flocks of flying fish flutter on the surface. Laughing, falling off the boards. Sing “A ray of the Golden Sun” when a red-hot yellow disk rises from behind a palm grove. To be yourself among the boundless living elements. Raise your hand and shout “goddess!!!”, congratulating you on a good wave. And how to live without all this now, if you flew away?! ❤️

Photo and magic: Daniel Korolev, thank you for capturing one of my magical dawns.
